BASIC FUNCTION:

Plan, organize, coordinate and oversee the finances of the school district. This oversight includes school level funds as well as district level payroll, budget, and accounts payable departments.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Director of Finance reports directly to the Superintendent.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

 ABILITY TO:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree from an accredited postsecondary institution in Accounting or Finance, and one of the following: a) a minimum of 12 credit hours in accounting coursework from an accredited postsecondary institution; b) a minimum of four years of experience primarily in accounting or finance, confirmed by the district of employment; or c) a minimum of 2 years work experience in finance in a local school district, confirmed by the district of employment (702 KAR 3:320)

Experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Forty-two (42) hours of continuing education classes every two years that have been approved by the Kentucky Department of Education.
